I'm looking for some Indie music to feature on an audio podcast.

I'm organizing an audio podcast series for the new year. We'll be interviewing authors, reading excerpts, and presenting other info that will hopefully be interesting to writers and readers. To break up all the spoken segments, I would like to feature one song per podcast, something from an Indie Band. Would you like to be featured?

Do you read a lot? Or a little? Either way this post is for you. The Mad Reviewer Reading Challenge The ever-so-mad Carrie Slager — aka The Mad Reviewer Follow @TheMadReviewer — has a challenge for you , and I have agreed to join in her crusade. She challenges you to read 104 books in 2013 (2 books a week) and review each one on your blog, Amazon, B&N, or Goodreads (or any combination thereof)—any site, really. However, she's an evil empress with a softer side, for she realizes that 104 books in a year is a tall task for many. So, there's different levels you can work toward. 1. Mad Reviewer : 104 books in one year. (2 books a week all year.) 2. Crazy Reviewer : 52 books in one year. (1 book a week all year.) 3. Slightly Sane Reviewer : 26 books in one year. (1 book every fortnight all year.) 4. Sane Reviewer : 12 books in one year. (1 book every month all year.) There are some rules. (These aren't mine. Personally I would allow

The Good, the Bad, and the Clunky - Tips on Writing Dialogue - guest post by @SaraRauch

Buffer A S A VORACIOUS reader, an editor, and a book reviewer, something that often jumps out to me is bad dialogue—even some very well-written books and stories contain it. Though a few snippets of badly written dialogue won’t break an otherwise good piece of writing, it will certainly stick out like a sore thumb. And, if your book is riddled with bad dialogue, it will make it very hard to get through.

Since Tomorrow by @MorganNyberg is a novel of a world in the remaking.

Since Tomorrow by Morgan Nyberg Follow @MorganNyberg A N OLD MAN rides a workhorse through the night, across mudslides, past stores abandoned for decades, past the rotted corpses of automobiles invisible under mounds of blackberry. Rain courses from his rabbit skin poncho. He carries a sword and a spear. He knows where to find the murderer. He will face him alone. "Since Tomorrow" is a novel of a world in the remaking. The old man, Frost, remembers the "good times". Those who live on his "farm" among collapsed warehouses and the foundations of vanished houses struggle to maintain human values. But when others in this makeshift world are driven only by greed and the need for power, all values must ultimately be replaced by the simple instinct for survival.

Book Bomb Book Club - good idea?

Buffer This idea combines the concepts of a book bomb, book club, and a rewards program. How so? Read on! Before I discuss the idea itself, here are a few definitions. Book Bomb — A "book bomb" is when an author or publisher asks readers to purchase a particular book from Amazon on a specific day. If enough readers cooperate, it pushes the book up in Amazon's rankings, giving it much more exposure than it would get if the same number of copies of the book were purchased over a longer period of time. A writing tip and an opinion about the publishing industry from @moonpie125

Buffer King Biscuit By Michael Loyd Gray Follow @moonpie125 Michael will be awarding a $25.00 Amazon Gift Card to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Let me offer a writing tip before talking about publishing: write your story or novel the way you feel it. I wish I could claim that’s totally original on my part, but it’s actually the advice Robert Duvall’s character in “Tender Mercies” gives to a struggling country band. “Play it the way you feel it,” he told them, and that applies to writing, too—write it the way you feel it. Write it your way. Writing isn’t a team sport. There’s no huddle and no quarterback telling you where to line up and where to go after that. You sit down to write and you’re alone. The story comes from you—so tell it the way you see it. Trust your conception of the story, of the characters, and see it through. Trust your instincts to write it. Tell it the way you see it.

Buffer Tell everyone a little bit about yourself. I'm a former English teacher, which automatically makes me an avid reader! I gave up teaching a couple of years ago to focus on my writing, so when I'm not writing, I'm reading and they're two of the best things in life. Who are some of your favorite authors? Books? Too many to list. I love the classics, of course, having been brought up on them and studied them intensively at university. Jane Austen and the Brontes are cosy favourites but when it comes to modern writers, I really enjoy Ian McEwan and Audrey Niffenegger but I'm discovering new favourites every single day and lots of these are indie writers. What are your favorite genres of books to read? I have to say women's fiction - I know that's a really broad category, but then I do have very broad tastes. I generally like my stories to be rooted in reality but I don't mind the occasional supernatural twist - as lon

It was deleted because in my initial draft I provided too much back story. Instead of this scene, all the major components are integrated throughout the rest of the book.
