Why more Twitter followers won't necessarily kill engagement.

Image
This is a continuation of a post several days ago about a new Twitter management service. In that post I introduced the idea of following fellow writers as an aid to a marketing strategy. The first thing I would like to tackle with this post is why I'm willing to follow fellow writers in your behalf and not readers per se. It isn't that I'm not willing to follow readers for you, but they are harder to find.

One of the most acclaimed dystopian novels of this century.

Lover Reborn: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood

A Eureka Moment from Author @RayAnthony07

Image
R AY ANTHONY WAS born in Kingston Jamaica in 1958 and lived with his grandparents until 1968, when he came to Britain to join his parents. Educated in south London, when he had the choice, he studied only maths and science; he found the arts crushingly boring.

Marketing Tip: Package it like a Pro - guest post by @JoelGoldman1

G OOD COVER ART is essential to a book’s success whether it’s an e-book or a print book. Don’t believe me? Browse Amazon or walk into your local bookstore and see what jumps out at you. Unless you’re looking for a specific book, you can’t help but be drawn to a book with an attractive, interesting, compelling cover. That’s what often first draws us to another person – we like what we see (and, we are shallow).

Creating a Magic System: Randomness, Sourcing, and Range - syndicated from @thefourpartland

Image
The following is syndicated from The Four Part Land and is posted here with permission. Over the course of the series, I've looked at how Strength and Prevalence affect a magic system and a setting, how Style and Powers shape and define that magic system, and finally how Magical Interaction and Items and Artefacts impact the setting and system. Today is the last of the posts in this part of the series, and I'll be looking at a few bits and pieces that have cropped up during the course of writing. I won't be marking them as choices, because I don't think they're on the same level, but I do think they are rather important all the same.

A possible new service designed to help Indie authors. Your thoughts?

Image
I COME UP with way too many ideas, but if I can ever figure out a system to organize the entire group, I'd be one powerful source for Indie authors, especially those that must rely on their own marketing budgets. Even for those that are represented by an Indie publishing house. With so much competition—so many other books being published simultaneously—it takes special effort to get ahead, to be noticed. But that's not exactly what this post is about.

‘I’ll Never Change’ – Actually, You Will (More Than You Think), New Study Shows (via Planetsave ) Life is full of decisions, many of which will impact our lives far into the future…everything from whether to apply for a mortgage and choosing where to live…to whom to marry and how many children we wish to have…all of these involve various long-term commitments. According to a team of psychologists…

Buffer Tell everyone a little bit about yourself. I have had a varied career from Company Director, to Coffee Shop Owner, to Home Carer for the elderly, to Reflexologist. Six years ago, I moved to the west country of England with my husband and little rescue dog and thought I was retiring! Instead, through a very good friend, I took up writing. I joined her writing group and soon got bitten by the bug. I have now had two novels published as kindle books – Every Why, which is also available as a paperback, and Be Mindful. The third novel is on its tenth chapter, hopefully to be finished by the summer. I have written poetry for many years as a way of expressing my feelings. I am one of those grandparents, who, through an acrimonious divorce between my son and his ex-wife, have lost all contact with two grandsons, and for this reason I have also published a kindle book of poetry and anecdotes entitled Heartfelt. All are available through Amazon.

Buffer   Tell everyone a little bit about yourself. I am a writer, photographer, mom, and professional hobbyist and I always seem to have some type of pet project underway.  I enjoy reading, writing, music and sports in my limited free time.  I have a background in journalism and worked as a photography editor and sports editor in high school and college, with a minor in journalism.  I am also the yearbook advisor at my child’s school.  Currently editing my second novel penned, however the first novel that I will seek to publish.
