Croaked

an Edgar Rowdey Cape Cod Mystery

by Carol Verburg

Cape Cod! To Lydia Vivaldi, it looks like sanctuary - until she learns her one friend in Quansett is dead. How could a skilled carpenter fall off a ladder at a film shoot? When Lydia lands a cooking job at Leo's Back End and starts asking questions, she's stonewalled by the flirtatious filmmaker and resented by the police. Only Edgar Rowdey, famous author of creepy little books and a Leo's regular, shares Lydia's doubts about the "accident." Can this unlikely pair of detectives find out what really happened before it happens again?

Praise for Croaked

"Croaked" has everything I want in a mystery: Wonderful kooky characters, a plot that keeps you turning pages, terrific dialog, humor, great local color, ...oh yes, and murders, too. I enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended!

With characters developed from real quirky locals, the author builds a wonderful mystery where every step is interesting(and important), and every character is authentic and credible. In addition to a great read, it was fun to recognize real places in the small towns where I've lived. Now, driving the roads Ms. Verburg describes, I can almost see the characters moving about to the tune of "Croaked." I am confident in recommending this book. I can't wait for her next one!

Purchased the book a few weeks ago for my Kindle. Owning a small cottage on the Cape, I love to read books based on the Cape. This one did not disappoint. Even enjoyed a few of her street references, Willow and 136, all in Hyannis. Really hard to put down. Great characters, good story line. Fun read. Hoping she does another Cape based mystery.
