Authors, here are the next 8 genres we will be reviewing.

WE ARE GOING to do book reviews a little differently in November and December. Instead of having a theme for all month, we are going to do themes by the week. The reason for this is simple. We are going to review books in less populated genres, or at least genres we haven't done a lot of before. It's a trial run, in a way.

The following genres are the ones we are looking for:

  • Historical
  • Time Travel
  • Chick Lit
  • Horror
  • Steampunk
  • New Adult
  • Holiday
  • Young Adult
The above list does not indicate the order in which we will feature these books, expect for Young Adult, which will be the theme for January. We're trying to get a head start on that one.

This call out will be open until the end of September. At the end of the period if we do not have enough books from a particular genre, we may reopen submissions for that genre only.

If you thought we were strict before...

Because we will only be hitting each genre for a very specific time (about one week), we are going to be a little more strict with submissions. I want the submissions to clearly fall into the above subgenres. If we find a book that doesn't count, we will simply delete the request and move on. No questions asked. No notice to the requester.

Ideally, I should be able to bring up the Amazon page and see clearly that the book is of a certain subgenre. That subgenre should be mentioned somewhere on the page, in other words. If I have any doubt, I will delete it and move on. I won't have time to mess with books that might or might not fit.

Another factor that is more strict than usual: the subgenre you list on the request form should match one of the above subgenres. This does not apply to Horror, YA, and New Adult since they are listed under main genre of the request form. In those cases, you need to select the right main genre.

The reason for this is simple: we will be processing more than one genre, which means at a glance we should clearly see what genre/subgenre we are working with.

The order in which we tackle these themes will partially depend on which genres are filled up first, and that's going to require paying attention to them as they come in. That means if you waste my time, you are out. Got it? Good.

One other point: we will process all the subgenres before we tackle YA, so if you request a YA book review, please be patient. We will get to you in time.
