The world has changed, people now are able to immerse themselves completely in the cyber world living completely separate lives then those outside of the computer. Corporations run the world in compounds of opulence and decadence.
The one thing still ringing true is love.
When I first started this book it took me a bit to really get into the story. I found the beginning a bit slow and disjointed. By sticking to it though I was rewarded with a rich tale of a couple in love willing to anything for one another to find their way back to one another.
Corporations run the world, they live in extravagant compounds while the rest of the people live in poverty breathing bad air and scavenging for food. Corporate espionage is carried out by runners who move about on the net. The people in power take what they want when they want it with no opposition. Sean and Caitlin are top runners who comb the net and steal secrets, they are also husband and wife. When the head of a corporation turns his eye to Caitlin he destroys their lives to take what he wants; Caitlyn.
This book is a good read, and interesting look at how not only a society could become corporate led and as we are already deep within the Internet how it could be taken one step further. The book contains a sub theme of BDSM and is portrayed in a fairly accurate light. The world Angelia Sparrow weaves is dark and grim yet Sean's willingness to do what it takes to get his wife back is a bright light.
Overall well worth immersing yourself in this book and the cyber vision of what the net has become.
