When the posse led by the Maynwarings turns into a lynch mob, against their will, and Van Thorn's men hang Jeremy Foster, Barron's daughter Mary Catherine, the Carson City solicitor, launches an investigation of her own hoping to learn why the strangers wanted Foster dead.As Van Thorn attempts to buy up property in Carson City for a massive redevelopment, Barron's son, Stokes, a city councilman, attempts to block the slick businessman's plan that seems more than meets the eye.

As they seek answers to Van Thorn's true intentions and dark background, the Maynwarings are stunned to learn that Jeremy Foster's brother has arrived in Carson City seeking revenge for his brother's untimely death.

Real page turner

What a read! Politics, family, mystery, drama and suspense made this a book I did not want to put down.

I don’t usually read westerns but this one made me decide the genre isn’t what I originally thought. I thought westerns were mainly cowboys and cow rustlers – this one definitely changed my mind.

There wasn’t a boring second in this book. The characters were good and the plot excellent. I liked that the author had a good mix of male and female characters and the females are savvy and educated. I think the era was well depicted and the story really was intriguing.

If you haven’t read the western genre before, I think this one will make you a fan of it.

Highly recommend this read as I really enjoyed it.

Fantastic Book That NEEDS to Become a Movie

I usually don't read western type books but this one caught my eye. I am so happy I took the chance on reading this book. Right from the start the author grips you and you do not want to put it down.

This book is so well-written you can picture yourself in the setting. The characters are also well-written and you `feel' like you know them. I can see The Maynwarings by Digger Cartwright as a #1 movie. I hope there is a sequel book to this one!

Now that I've read this book by D. Cartwright, I'm definitely going to order and read his other books.

I highly recommend this book to adults. It is a must read for people that like western books and mystery books.
