Crystal Deception
Written by Doug J. Cooper
Genre: Science Fiction ThrillerGuided by her scientific training, Tallette works cautiously with Criss. That is, until the Kardish, an otherwise peaceful race of alien traders, announce they want him. With technologies superior to Earth’s, the Kardish express their desires with ominous undertones.
The Union of Nations is funding Tallete’s artificial intelligence research, and she turns to them for help. Sid, a special agent charged with leading the response, decides Earth’s greatest weapon is the very AI the aliens intend to possess. But what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object? And what is humanity’s role if an interstellar battle among titans starts to rage?
Solmarie's Review
First let me mention that the cover is absolutely beautiful. It was what drew my attention first when I was asked to review.
Dr Jessica "Juice" Tallette has just accomplished a great feat. In a world where almost every day to day activity is helped in some way by artificial intelligence crystals, she has found a way to make one that is a sentient being. Criss is a fourth generation AI prototype. Having the intelligence of a thousand human beings put together he is nothing short of a master piece. He is able to use all forms of technology no matter how complex.
However, there are some problems that come about after his "birth". One, he is basically alive. What happens if he decides to override his original instructions? Two, there is an alien race, the Kardish, that wants him and is willing to do anything, including attacking Earth to get their hands on him. What follows is a race against time
This was a wonderful sci-fi book with a lot of meat to it. Even though it was very techy I didn't feel like I was reading an encyclopedia. The intrigue and mystery moved the story along. I was captivated by trying to figure out what was going to happen next with all its twists and turns.

Meet Doug J. Cooper
As a young child, Doug stood on a Florida beach and
watched an Apollo spacecraft climb the sky on its mission to the moon. He
thrilled at the sight of the pillar of flames pushing the rocket upward. And
then the thunderous roar washed over him, and shook his body and soul.
Since then, he has explored life as an educator and
entrepreneur. He enjoys telling inventive tales, mentoring driven individuals,
and everything sci-tech.
In his new book, Crystal Deception, Doug swirls his
creative imagination with his life experiences to craft a science fiction
action-adventure story with engaging characters and a plot line with surprises.
