This week I watched:
How to Train Your Dragon (2010) by Dreamworks
Long ago up North on the Island of Berk, the young Viking, Hiccup, wants to join his town's fight against the dragons that continually raid their town. However, his macho father and village leader, Stoik the Vast, will not allow his small, clumsy, but inventive son to do so.
Regardless, Hiccup ventures out into battle and downs a mysterious Night Fury dragon with his invention, but can't bring himself to kill it. Instead, Hiccup and the dragon, whom he dubs Toothless, begin a friendship that would open up both their worlds as the observant boy learns that his people have misjudged the species.
But even as the two each take flight in their own way, they find that they must fight the destructive ignorance plaguing their world. (IMDB)
I had seen this movie only seven times before I watched it again this week. But come on, this movie ROCKS! First of all, I LOVE dragons! They're my favorite mythical creature and I couldn't resist them in animated form. Plus, this movie is hilarious! Hiccup is just too funny for words, and the fact that he named his dragon "Toothless"...I can't even... But HTTYD also has its emotional moments, which I love to see in animated features. Gives them a sense of reality and that they weren't just made to amuse you, but were made to also get you thinking and rile up your emotions. It's just great! I'm still not sure why I don't own this movie on DVD! I love it!

Great book, even though it was very "LOTR-esque". But the dragon lore was AWESOME!

The plot of this book sounds amazing. Dragons turning into humans and playing valuable roles in society? I'm in! It has great reviews and I can't wait to give this one a try.
