Dark Chocolate Fondue

Serious Round

Do you base any characters on real-life people that you know?

Sebastian and Robbie in Conversations On the bench were based on actual people. This book was inspired by them and actual events as it recounts the friendship between the two as well as the life lessons that Sebastian shared. Other characters in other books may have traits or mannerisms of actual people but those characters are not based on actual people.

Can you recall a particular scene that was painful or traumatic for you to write?

The final scene in Conversations on the Bench was particularly difficult to write since there was a good deal of emotion involved. Finding one of the main characters sitting on that bench just looking out at the ocean was tough. This was another scene based on an actual event, so it stirred up the emotion I felt when I lived through it the first time. I won't give away the ending, but it's an emotionally tough scene.

Wacky Question

You're having an intimate dinner party, just you and five individuals (from any time in history, fictional or real). Who's at your table and what are you eating?

Walt Disney, Richard Nixon, Robert E. Lee, Howard Hughes, Sebastian Perey (from Conversations On The Bench); Kobe Beef and fresh cold water Maine lobster tail.
