Claire never believed she was like Fran, her twin sister...
By day, Claire Robertson is a staff writer for a small publication in Seattle. But when the lights go down, she writes sizzling and oh-so-naughty erotica. She keeps these stories safely tucked away, hiding her secret fantasies of her hero, Dustin Murray. The man who stole her heart six years ago. And then pushed her aside to date her sister.
...everyone thinks they look alike...
Dustin never forgot Claire. Nor has he forgotten that Fran,'s threats have kept him silent for six years and cost him the woman he loved. When tragedy strikes, Claire returns home. This time Dustin isn't about to lose her again. Now he's a successful business man, wholly prepared to do whatever it takes to win Claire back.
...until someone makes a mistake.
Amidst chaos, Claire accidentally sends the wrong story to her editor and things really heat up. With hot the new black in publishing, her editor thinks he's struck gold and queues Claire's hot story for publication. The last thing Claire needs is for everyone to learn that she's got secrets of her own, especially scorching fantasies involving Dustin.
Praise for Secret Desire
What's not to like about this book? Yes, there are plenty of hot, sexy scenes whose description seems more than real. But those are only one small part of why this book is great. The narrator and protagonist's voice is so natural and at times hilarious. You can almost see yourself in her and delight in her foibles. Finally, the issues at play here- heartbreak, identical twins, choosing your own destiny and identity- make for a very dynamic, complex story line. I love the story-within-a-story format. This book is great! Go read it...NOW!
Interactions are fast paced and well written, with conversations being realistic and, at times, quite funny. Claire is a solidly defined and well developed character, and we get to see her growth as she deals with new situations and challenges. Dustin is finally freeing himself from the corporate hamster wheel, having never forgotten about Claire, and his reactions are so well described and defined they are palpable. The sex is steamy, rivaling Claire’s first bit of erotica she shares with readers early in the book, and the style of Claire’s “writing” and Susan D. Taylor’s is incrementally different: a clever technique. This is a fun story, touching on author issues, writer issues and above all, dealing with those members of your family who needed to be put in their place long ago.
Wow... what a terrific book! It was romantic and very creative with plenty of sexiness for good measure. The relationship between Claire and Dustin was a nice change of pace from all of the `Fifty Shades' knock-offs out there. This couple had a turbulent history and it is what made them so real and endearing. It is also why I couldn't put the book down and also why I can't wait to see if there is a sequel. The characters are well-developed. Dustin was very likeable, lovable, sexy, and an all-around great guy. Claire's hopes, dreams, and fears were written in such a way by the author that it made it easy to identify with her. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun, sexy read that leaves you wanting to know more about Claire and Dustin.
