Synopsis

She is known as the Ice Queen in the corporate social circles of Nashville, Tennessee. Those who gossip about C.J. Bostworth are unaware of what lies behind her cold and distant façade. After a dreadful marriage in which deception and pain were the main ingredients, C.J. shows herself merciless in a business world managed by men. She won’t let anyone take advantage of her anymore. She is ready for any challenge, but she never thought she would have to face the untimely arrival of Xander Zhurov to her life. He seems able to disrupt her organized world with an overwhelming strength and the most beautiful greenish-blue eyes.

An architect and son of Russian immigrants, Xander Zhurov is the owner of a company strongly founded and has an impeccable reputation. The least he expects is to feel dazzled by a woman who is as beautiful as cold and who insists on looking at him over her shoulders. His competitive vein will drive him to conquer the will of the heir, C.J. Bostworth, but on his way, he will find out that behind that cold façade hides a warm woman that makes him, unthinkingly, reconsider his bachelor life.

Excerpt

The lights were switched off and people started singing the song before blowing out the thirty-two candles. Before blowing, she made a wish as she used to on her birthday. She smiled and looked up facing the applause and hurrahs of the guests.

The person whose look intertwined with hers when the cake was being shared had greenish-blue eyes. C.J. blushed and looked away to listen to a joke that her brother Charles was telling.

She was not used to feeling shy in her work environment neither when negotiating. She had a steady personality and she didn’t let anyone think that for being a woman she could be steamrolled in the meeting room. In Xander’s case, the circumstances in which they had met each other were far from normal, and that’s why she felt a bit insecure.

Maybe, she stumbled a bit with the opposite sex, but she had an eye for this, and Xander was quite a man. Tall, brown hair, hypnotic eyes and well-defined facial features which gave him a stunning appearance. The kind of man who could have any woman he wanted, at his feet.

She was sure that, after seeing her in a bikini, all he could possibly want was to get paid for the job he was doing. She wasn’t stupid. She knew that, unlike those voluptuous and beautiful women, she was quite dull. Tall, thin, and wishing she had more breasts.

She couldn’t deal with the idea of a man seeing her naked again. She didn’t sit well with rejection, and she had had enough of that during her brief marriage nightmare.
